The new option in the Settings menu allows users to easily enable automatic captioning for any audio played on the iPhone, from phone conversations to FaceTime sessions to videos. Captions appear at the top of the screen while audio is playing in real-time, and users can change the font size of the captions to better suit their needs.

What is Live Caption?

Apple has announced the availability of Live Captions for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. Because the term “Live Captions” may be perplexing, allow me to explain it in simpler terms.

For example, if you’re viewing a regional film that’s not in your first language, you’d prefer subtitles to keep up with the dialogue. Live Captions operates similarly and can deliver captions on a variety of apps and services.

Methods #1. Control Centre

Another option is to use the Control Panel to enable and disable Live Captions. To begin, establish an Accessibility shortcut by following the procedures in the preceding section. After you’ve completed that,

1. Navigate to Settings.
2. Select Control Centre.
3. Under More Controls, look for Accessibility Shortcuts and tap the green Plus(+) icon.
4. You may now access and utilise the Accessibility Shortcut from the Control Centre to enable and disable Live Captions.

Methods #2. Enable with triple-click to use Live Captions on iPhone

You can enable or disable Live Captions without having to go through all of the settings each time. To enable or disable Live Captions, simply triple-click the lock button. Here’s how to activate this shortcut:

1. Navigate to Settings.
2. Navigate to the Accessibility tab.
3. Under the General section, select the Accessibility Shortcut option.
4. Navigate to and choose Live Captions.

Methods #3. For FaceTime and Calls

When you enable the Live Captions functionality, Live Captions for FaceTime and RTT are enabled by default. You can also enable or disable this functionality manually. Here’s how it works:

1. Navigate to Settings.
2. Navigate to the Accessibility tab.
3. Under the Hearing section, select the Live Captions (Beta) option.
4. Turn on the Live Captions toggle on the following page.
5. You can enable or disable the toggles for Live Captions in FaceTime and Live Captions in RTT under the In-App Live Captions section.
